RevenueCat Raises $50 Million to Expand Beyond App Subscription Tools
RevenueCat, a company deeply embedded in the mobile app economy—now powering subscriptions in over 70,000 apps—is gearing up for its next phase of growth. With one in three new subscription apps now launching with RevenueCat’s infrastructure, the company plans to leverage its position to tackle a wider range of challenges mobile developers face.
In light of the recent Apple-Epic antitrust ruling, which allows developers to link to external payment options in iOS apps, RevenueCat is focusing part of its strategy on helping app makers decide whether—and how—to adopt web-based billing. The company already offers tools to support this transition.
To support its expansion, RevenueCat has secured $50 million in Series C funding. The round was led by Bain Capital Ventures, with participation from returning investors including Index Ventures, Y Combinator, Adjacent, Volo Ventures, and SaaStr Fund. This new funding extends a $12 million Series C round from last year, bringing the company’s total raised to $100 million. The startup is now valued at $500 million post-money.
RevenueCat began by simplifying subscription infrastructure for mobile apps—making it easier for developers to implement and manage recurring payments without complex coding. Now, the company is evolving into a more comprehensive platform, aiming to solve a wider set of pain points across the mobile app lifecycle.
Today, over 2,000 developers are testing RevenueCat’s web billing tool. Though it competes with platforms like Stripe, Recurly, and Chargebee, RevenueCat’s offering is purpose-built for mobile app developers.
AI is another factor influencing RevenueCat’s future. The company already serves AI-based platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT app and sees a new wave of AI-powered, “vibe-coded” apps—apps built by non-programmers using AI tools.
RevenueCat plans to use the new funding to continue building new products, expand its team, and explore potential acquisitions.
