Anthropic Nears $170B Valuation in Potential $5B Raise

Anthropic is reportedly in advanced discussions to raise between $3 billion and $5 billion in fresh capital, a deal that would push the AI company’s valuation to around $170 billion.

The funding round is being led by Iconiq Capital, though another lead investor may join the effort. The report also notes that Anthropic has been in discussions with the Qatar Investment Authority and Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, GIC.

If completed, the new financing would nearly triple Anthropic’s valuation from March, when a $3.5 billion round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners valued the company at $61.5 billion. That earlier round also drew investment from Bessemer Venture Partners, Cisco Investments, D1 Capital Partners, Fidelity Management & Research, General Catalyst, Jane Street, Menlo Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures.
